People of Ireland on behalf of St. Oliver Plunkett National School, Ballina,
we remember all past generations who bravely fought for our nations rights, liberty and independence.
We take pride in our republic’s beliefs and we respect our Gaelic culture and traditions.
Now in this new and revised proclamation we set out our vision for the future of our country
and all of its present and future generations.
We want all citizens of Ireland to be treated equally regardless of their race, religion, gender or nationality.
We, as human beings, deserve the same rights and opportunities no matter how different we are.
We want to thank the people of Ireland for continuing to fight for freedom and justice for all around the world.
We believe that all people in our country deserve to feel safe and secure and have a home.
We ask the government to act immediately to end homelessness as this is unacceptable in modern day Ireland.
We believe that Irishmen and Irishwomen have a right to employment and should not have to emigrate to seek work.
We believe the government has a duty to provide opportunities for all.
We believe that it is our responsibility to preserve our culture and traditions for future generations of Irish people.
We have a great tradition of sport and the arts which we are proud of and a language which we must preserve.
We must cherish our children.
We declare that all children must have their basic needs met
and must receive free education suitable to their individual needs.
We have a responsibility to protect the most vulnerable in our society.
We vow to care for the nation’s elderly, the sick, the disabled and those with special needs.
They must be treated with dignity and respect and be protected at all times.
We believe that our government has a duty to provide our citizens with an excellent healthcare system for all regardless of wealth.
There must be adequate investment in our healthcare system to ensure that everyone can be taken care of properly.
Our vision is for an Ireland that is fit and healthy.
We believe that all people who are witnessing trouble in their own country and seek refuge in Ireland deserve to be welcomed and treated with
dignity and respect as the Irish were in the past when they had to leave our shores.
We must respect the environment we live in.
As a Green School we realise the importance of the planet and what we can do to safeguard its future.
The generations before us preserved it and protected it and it is our duty to protect our natural resources.
Each one of us is a link in the chain for change.
Going forward we must stand together in harmony and respect our traditions, cultures and beliefs to shape a nation as best as possible for all
future generations of Irish.
We are calling out to all Irish citizens to take responsibility and embark on our vision for this country.
